Tan Binh house - Project of Vo Trong Nghia Architects won TADA 2023

Architect Võ Trọng Nghĩa has made a resounding impact at the TADA 2023 International Architecture Award with his work, the “Tân Bình House”. This multi-level green space left a strong impression on the TADA 2023 jury and was honored as one of the top 10 outstanding projects in the competition.

The TOSTEM Asia Design Award (TADA 2023), organized by the Japanese aluminum door brand TOSTEM, is a competition open to architects across Asia (including India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Taiwan). Projects are evaluated by expert judges based on criteria such as uniqueness, creativity, sustainability, functionality, and aesthetics.

According to Architect Võ Trọng Nghĩa, the “Tân Bình House” follows the concept of a home for trees. Each dwelling becomes a small park, reclaiming green space for the land. Amidst this environment, people can enjoy shade, soothing visuals, and improved air quality.

Given the dense greenery, the challenge for the project was selecting materials and construction accessories that met both durability and high aesthetic standards. Architect Võ Trọng Nghĩa chose the Japanese aluminum door brand TOSTEM for the direct sunlight-facing doors and windows. Explaining this interesting choice, he stated, “TOSTEM products offer excellent quality at reasonable prices. Therefore, they are suitable for constructing Vietnamese projects with budget constraints while demanding sophistication and uniqueness.”

TOSTEM aluminum doors have been used in several renowned works by Architect Võ Trọng Nghĩa, including the FPT University Building (Hòa Lạc), which recently won the prestigious World Architecture Awards for the 42nd time.

During the TADA 2023 award, Architect Võ Trọng Nghĩa participated in a 4-day program in Japan. Activities included exploring the Lixil headquarters, learning about cutting-edge products at the R&D Center, and visiting famous architectural landmarks in Tokyo.
